Roberts Designs 10mm Round Closed Cell Backer Rod is pushed into a joint before silicone or hybrid sealant so the sealant sits at the right depth, bonds only to the two sides, and is not wasted filling the gap.
Use it for
- Movement and perimeter joints around 8mm wide
- The gap between tile and bath, shower base, hob or door frame
- Expansion joints in tiled floors

Good to know
- Choose a rod about 25 percent wider than the joint so it grips.
- Sealant depth should be about half the joint width. Set the rod to that depth and seal over it.
- Closed cell foam does not absorb water, so it suits wet areas. Also available in 6mm (RDX2300).

How much tile should I order?
Measure the area in square metres and add 10% for cuts and breakages (15–20% for herringbone or diagonal layouts). Every tile page has a calculator that sets the quantity for you.
Can I pick up my order?
Yes. Choose pickup at checkout. Wait until we tell you your order is ready, then book a pickup time and bring your order number.
Can I return something?
Change-of-mind returns are accepted within 30 days for unused products in original packaging. A 15% restocking fee applies. Faulty or damaged items are covered under the Australian Consumer Law. See our Refund Policy.
